FAQ's
for Solid Surface
Can my solid
surface countertop be repaired?
Just because a solid surface countertop or sink is cracked or scratched
does not mean it is ruined. Cracks can be repaired by using color
matched material (preferably material that was left after installation)
by cutting out the damaged area and fitting a plug into its place.
Sinks that are cracked can be cut out and replaced without removing
the countertop. Scratches can be sanded out during the refinishing
process.
Is
the repair noticeable?
The majority of the time repairs are very inconspicuous. There are
times when a small amount of seam adhesive can be seen or in some
cases, if the repair material is from a different dye lot, the repair
plug can be seen slightly.
What
types of solid surface services do you perform?
I have a remedy for cracked countertops, scorch marks, seam separations,
cracked sinks, chemical spills, stains, & scratches. I can even
modify existing countertops by adding or changing a decorative edge,
cutting an opening for a cook-top, or rearranging your existing
countertops.
What brands can be repaired?
There are countless brands of solid surface that have been installed
in homes over the years, and the repair method for each is pretty
much the same. Some of the better known brands are DuPont
Corian ®, LG HI-MACS®, Samsung Staron®, Avonite ®,
Wilsonart® Gibraltar, and Formica Solid Surface and yes, they
can all be repaired.
What brand do I have?

brands and the colors and styles they offer. If you are still having
trouble figuring out what brand, color or style you have, please

Is the repair process messy?
During a repair or refinish a small amount of dust is created. I
use dust extraction on all of my tools so that the dust will not
spread throughout the rest of the house. The remaining dust and
flakes will be vacuumed after the repair is done.
How
long does a repair take?
The average repair takes 4-5 hours. Some jobs take less time and
in some rare cases, repairs have taken all day.
Can deep scratches, stains, or chemical spills be removed?
The answer to all three is yes. They are removed using a "dustless"
sanding process called refinishing. The procees for doing this is
more time consuming versus standard refinishing.
Can you do anything for SSV (solid surface veneer) countertops?
There is very little that can be done to fix SSV, but please call
or email me if you have a particular problem.

FAQ for
engineered stone (Quartz)
What
services do you have for engineered stone?
There is very little that actually goes wrong with engineered stone,
but occasionally a piece of quartz will pop out and that can be
fixed. There is also very little that scratches engineered stone
besides another piece of engineered stone, topaz or a diamond. Scratches
are tricky, but can often times be fixed.
Can
you remove stains in engineered stone?
Engineered stone does not actually stain. If you notice a "haze"
in certain spots, it is either the resin that has burnt from extreme
heat or there is a film on the surface that conventional cleaners
will not remove. If it just a film on the surface, it can be removed.

FAQ
for Granite
What services
do you have for granite countertops?
There is very little that actually goes wrong with granite, but
there is some routine maintenance. I do small
repairs of chips and breaks.
Can
you repair broken granite?
I can repair broken granite, but unlike solid surface, the repair
may be much more noticeable. Some granite does have natural veining
in it which helps to hide a repair.
